Last week, I had the pleasure of being invited to Herts Young Homeless’ FUTURE ROOTS lunch, at the beautiful Moor Park Golf Club (club house shown here, complete with this fabulous Bentley!) Introduced via my affiliation with Acorn Capital Advisers, this charity may be small, but its model is a complete game-changer in providing long-term positive outcomes to young people in the county, including working hard to prevent youth homelessness in the first place.
This was a celebration of the opening of their second home in Hatfield, which provides a family-style environment where up to six young people at a time can feel safe, respected, and supported. Their success rate in turning young, vulnerable people’s lives around is highly impressive, and we heard from one resident whose life had been totally transformed since he had been part of the scheme.
It was great to see how passionate and driven the team and the trustees were, and I wish them every success in the future. And of course, if you’re local to Hertfordshire (and even if you’re not!!), and want to support a cause with an important and genuine, long-term impact, please find out more on their website: https://www.hyh.org.uk/
